How do I find a primary source?

I am required to use a primary source for my research project. How do I find one?

Answer

Primary Sources, or first-person sources, are items originating from a person who experienced an event first-hand. Examples include correspondence, photographs, maps, newspapers, legal documents, video recordings of theater performances, audio recordings, and data sets.

The type of primary source changes dependent on your field of study, application, and interpretation of the source. For guidance on searching for and finding primary sources, visit the library's guide: How do I find primary sources?, or ask a librarian!
